More help needed for mums with mental health issues, says Maternal Mental Health Alliance

In Maternal Mental Health week, the Maternal Mental Health Alliance has reported that 75% of mothers with mental health problems don’t get diagnosed or receive adequate treatment. 1 in 5 new mums experience perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, but often don’t recognise the signs or know where to go for support. New dads are also often in need of support at this critical time in their lives.

As part of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies service, Oasis-Talk and our fellow service providers give priority to perinatal clients. You can access the service by phoning Bristol Wellbeing Therapies on 0117 9823209 or South Glos Talking Therapies on 0117 3784270.
