Oasis-Talk is Five Years Old

Last week was a significant milestone for Oasis-Talk as we celebrated 5 years since our founding as an organisation in 2012. To commemorate this achievement  we brought together over 75 staff, colleagues and experts from across the local mental health arena on a very (very!) warm midsummer night at The Watershed, Bristol. Alongside a celebration of Oasis-Talk’s achievements over the last half decade, the event was also an opportunity to discuss together the challenges and opportunities facing modern day talking therapy services.

The theme of the evening was ‘Navigating Mental Health in Uncertain Times’ and our guest speaker at the event was Dr. Miltos Hadjiosif, Senior Lecturer in Community Psychology at UWE. Dr. Hadjiosif and panel members discussed how mental health is impacted by many factors in an individual’s environment (housing, relationships, wealth etc.) and how therapists must seek to understand these factors, and work with them in treatment. Here at Oasis-Talk we are proud of our ‘whole person’ approach to therapy and will often signpost individuals to other agencies who can offer practical support, as well as offering therapy for couples.

A highlight of the evening was hearing from two previous Oasis-Talk clients who had had their lives changed by therapy and wanted to share their positive experiences. You can hear more about the positive impact therapy has had on our clients here.

We would like to thank everyone who came along to help us celebrate our first five years as Oasis-Talk, and look forward to many more.
