Mental Health Awareness week: From surviving to thriving
The theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week (8th to 14th May) is “Thriving, not surviving”. Following the results of a recent survey, the Mental Health Foundation has expressed concerns about a decline in the UK’s mental heath and wellbeing and has developed a 5-point plan to address the main issues at a national level. They have also posted a simple online survey that you can use to check out your own mental wellbeing and order a pack of helpful resources.
Mental health problems are worst among people on low incomes, particularly the long-term unemployed: More women than men report difficulties with mental health, and the over 55s appear to be happier than those in the 18-54 age bracket. The MHF’s aim is to help us all build greater emotional resilience so that we can be the best we can.
