Coronavirus anxiety helpline
Anxiety is an emotion that can cause significant distress when we experience it. It can affect our thoughts, behaviours and feelings. Anxiety is often triggered by a ‘perceived threat’ or the idea of ‘something bad happening’. So it’s no surprise that right now for many of us our anxiety levels have increased due to the coronavirus and how it will affect us.
When we feel anxious, our fight or flight response is triggered to help us to deal with the ‘threat’ effectively. This is a natural response and means your body is trying really hard to keep you safe. It is important to remember that these feelings are short lived and there are techniques you can use to reduce them quickly.
Currently, it is understandable that most people’s anxiety levels have increased due to the uncertainty regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it will affect us. These concerns might include:
- worrying about catching the illness;
- worrying about spreading the illness to others who are more vulnerable;
- financial implications from taking time off work due to sickness or self-isolation;
- worries about how your anxiety will now impact your physical and emotional wellbeing.
We’re here to help
We have set up a dedicated coronavirus anxiety helpline to help those who are in need of support during these unprecedented times. Our experienced team of therapists treat different types of anxiety successfully every day and are available to provide support over the phone. They can talk you through some techniques you can use to reduce your anxiety about the coronavirus. Techniques include breathing exercises and ways to redirect your thoughts.
Our rates for the support calls are:
- £30 for a phone call of up to 30 minutes
- £55 for a phone call or online session of up to 50 minutes
Please get in touch to make an appointment for your support call. Phone lines are open between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday, please free to email or leave a voicemail outside of these times and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that due to the current social distancing advice we are unable to provide face-to-face appointments.
