What to expect
What you tell your therapist will be kept confidential. We hope this will help you feel you can talk freely.
If you’ve come to us through an NHS referral, we’ll make brief notes on computer about how the work is progressing. These notes can only be accessed by health professionals working in local primary mental health services, who will all respect your confidentiality.
If your therapist thinks there’s significant risk of serious harm coming to yourself or others, he or she would need to break confidentiality and tell someone else – most likely your GP or another health professional.
Frequency and number of sessions
Sessions usually take place weekly at the same time and place, holidays excepted. Your therapist will talk to you about how many sessions you might have. This will depend on the type of therapy and the resources available.
We provide therapy mainly from doctors’ surgeries across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Appointments are available in the daytime and evening.
Oasis-Talk and all our therapists follow the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. The framework explains our commitment to working with you in a way that is ethical.
